New Member Induction:

Welcome to new members Robert Fuller, sponsored by Pres. Jack Moran; and to Carole and Gary Francis,  sponsored by Judy and Paul Minor.  Please introduce yourself, welcome them to the club...and sign their books!  Bob, Carole, and Gary, we're glad you've chosen to join us!

Fines, Etc.

Doug Lowden delivered up a pit pass, admitting to a trip to Colorado for a tax seminar, with nearly all of the supplemental golf outings cancelled by bad weather.  (...says he "found the pit pass on the floor...")  PP Lloyd Lill congratulated President Jack for his recent good luck ($1,000 drawing prize), and our President responded with thanks and a check already drawn, contributing 10%.  Dick McCaughey snagged the new pit pass for $20.

Program:

Jeff Anthony introduced Linda Janczak and her assistant, Misty Flock.  Linda spoke and shared a slide show which went far to help us understand the hugely complicated issues surrounding the evolving healthcare reform legislation.  She detailed the reasons for escalating healthcare costs, the ways in whih those costs are paid, and compared White House, Senate and House versions of the healthcare reform bill.  We also learned about some of the "hidden" (and unresolved) issues, such as future unfunded Medicare liability, the inevitable changes to the healthcare delivery system we now know it, and some of the potential anti-trust legal issues.  Also, Linda shared a status report on how to find information about, and plan for, the H1N1 virus now headed our way,  Our thanks to Linda for helping to make sense of the proposed legislation, and for the practical help with H1N1.

Drawings:
Doug Lowden was understandably disappointed with a 9 of diamonds; the Joker would have yielded $688.  President Jack held the successful ticket for the weekly draw of $34.
