| Morning Meeting Notes From 2/25/10: |

18 were in attendance. Two new club banners with club flags were in place thanks to the efforts of Kirk Locus. Visiting Rotarian was Don Collins from Red Jacket. Guests were Christine Shifter (oratorical student's mother) and Leo Fabris (oratorical coach). Fines were paid by Dick McCaughey for neglecting to read Jack's email and Kirk Locus for speaking of morning 'club' instead of morning 'meeting'. Happy dollar paid by Janet Tenreiro for becoming the steward of Granger Green's Syracuse University orange jacket.
Program: Melissa Shively (Marcus Whitman HS) and Alex Shifter (Lima Christian School) shared their District 7120 Oratorical Contest presentations in preparation for the contest. Their topic was "The Importance of Ethics in the Life I Plan to Live", utilizing the principles of the Four Way Test. The members then shared feedback for any possible improvements upon their already very good presentations. Jackpot winner: Andy Harkness ($2)

Pia-Sophie's parents came from Austria for a visit. They went to New York City and did some shopping while they we there. Pia was hoping for a snow day last Friday (which she did get). Adam went to Ohio and visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He also participated in the YMCA ski program. He had a thank you note from the YMCA as our club had donated money to this ski event for exchange students.

PDG Jim Holden has had lower back pain and the doctor's think he may have some sort of infection causing the back pain. Tricia Carey was back with us after having knee surgery. Welcome back Tricia! Chloe Platou is home and welcomes visitors. Just be sure to call ahead.

District Assembly - Saturday March 27 in Pittsford.
District Conference - April 23 - 25 in Albany
Palmyra-Macedon Rotary is celebrating their 60th anniversary on Saturday, April 17. Tickets are available for $15 each.
George Herren welcomed all new members and asked each to stand. A reminder from George about the New Member Orientation held the first Thursday of each month starting at 11:15 AM at Steamboat Landing.
Doug Lowden with a reminder about the Rotary Charity Scholarship Bowling Event to be held Sunday March 14 at Roseland Bowl starting at 12:30.
Joe Delforte has tickets to the play 'Grease" if anyone would like to attend on March 17. Tickets are $55 each.
Clark Kurtz ask that any new member who has not had their picture taken by him for our Rotary web site to please see him.
President Jack received a thank you note from the Ontario-Yates Hospice thanking our club for the donation.

| Student of Excellence Awards: |
| Nancy Ruscio presented Student of Excellence awards to both Chelsea Bogino and Nicholas Cazer from Canandaigua Academy. Chelsea is a senior at the Academy and her extensive resume includes being on high honor roll every quarter since 9th grade, National Honor Society member, Smith Book Award, student government, class officer, playing several sports, Symphony Orchestra, several community service projects and many other achievements. Nicholas is a senior at Canandaigua Academy and he's also an IB diploma candidate. His favorite courses are IB Economics and Theory of Knowledge. His most influential courses have been programming and Web Design. Nicholas participated in the school's first robotics team. He spent a year (every day after school) to learn all about computers and how they work and then put a computer together. He joined the community rugby team and is very involved in 4-H. Chelsea and Nicholas both recieved a $100 gift certificate, individual plagues and their names will be engraved on the Student of Excellence Plague hanging in the hallway at Canandaigua Academy. Congratulations to both students. |

| Michelle Garlock introduced Nichole Blowers and Morgan Macklin contestants in the District 7120 Oratorical Contest. Their topic was the same as it was for Melissa Shively and Alex Stifter at the morning meeting. Nichole and Morgan are both students at Canandaigua Academy. Both did an exceptional job with their speeches. All students in the contest have the same subject to speak on. All speeches are to be between 5 and 7 minutes long, contestants are not to use notes or a microphone at the actual competition. Based on the speeches presented, these students are well prepared for the contest. A special thank you to Michelle Garlock for all the work she has done with the Oratorical Contest this year. Best of luck to all the students in the the competition. |

| Jodi Kaufman for a trip to California to see her grandchildren and then onto Cancun for some relaxation, Ben Gullo for a 2 week cruise to Australia and New Zealand, Jack Kellog returned his $30 pit pass after returning from Disney World, Ft. Meyers and Daytona. Tom Sheavly gave a deposit of $5 for a trip he will be taking to Florida. He said the deposit was in case he did not return. President Jack readily accepted the $5 from Tom. Lloyd Lill purchased the pit pass for $10. Doug Finch is still in possession of the other pit pass (since 1/14/10). |

$19 was won by Andy Harkness, which he donated to the Foundation.
