| Program notes: District Governor |
|
Assistant Governor, Tom Rogers introduced our current governor Mark Wyse and his wife, Linda. Mark came up through the ranks serving in various capacities as district Membership Development chair; Student Exchange Country Officer for Switzerland, club president during Rotary Centennial (2005). He was happy to report hearing Bill Gates of Microsoft giving Rotary yet another $100 million Challenge Grant for Polio Plus at the Governor-Elect convention in San Diego. Last year our district raised $68,000 from the Pennies for Polio Campaign
D.G. Mark related that the Motto from R.I. president John Kenney native of Scotland is "The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands." Its focus points WATER, HEALTH & HUNGER, LITERACY, & YOUTH and MEMBERShip give us much to pursue. Many clubs have begun water projects. New projects are under development for Health & Hunger, Volunteers exist in Literacy, and most important Exchange Student Hosts have the possibility of becoming new members of our clubs within the district.
We are now in AREA 7. We will be launching Pennies for Polio once again because it still has school children legs to run upon within our district.
He will be an enthusiastic District Governor for District 7120.
